It was a busy week for V. Between tests and papers and work, he didn't get a lot of down time and every moment needed to be used to the fullest. So while he was slaving away on his TI-83 and doing equations that make my head hurt, I decided to make us Sunday brunch. There's nothing like mimosas and math problems! Except for maybe mimosas and more mimosas.
Because I'm sort of a traditionalist, eggs benedict, to me, is the quintessential brunch dish. So of course, I had to try to recreate this meal. I used crispy prosciutto instead of Canadian bacon and added some asparagus so they didn't go to waste. And potatoes! The best part of life. So I made roasted sweet potatoes. With rosemary. And garlic. So delicious.
Everything was going according to plan. The potatoes were par-boiled and ready to go in the oven.
The asparagus were already steamed.
I began to assemble my mis-en-place: eggs, butter, and recipes.
After 30 minutes of torture waiting for the potatoes to be ready, I started the eggs and the hollandaise.
And then this happened.
Kitchen Blooper # 1. Quelle horreur ! |
Kitchen Blooper # 2 |
In the end, after freaking out, the show went on and the dish turned out great, minus my favorite part of eggs benedict.
